WW2 Japanese Officer's captured Katana in field service mounts and with jungle, leather covered laquered sayer (scabbard). The blade with some polish, good hamon (temper line) and signature to tang. The furniture including the ray skin grip and tsuba (guard) is of WW2 service pattern, the leather cover is laced to the top to provide a snug fit and is in good condition with a few scuffs only. The grip has a family mon or seal to the top mount and overall this katana is a good example of an evocative reminder of the Pacific theatre of operations. Overall length 101cms
