Good Showa period surrendered officer's Katana in its leather covered jungle combat sayer with regulation WW2 mounts and tzuba. The signed blade has an excellent hamon with regular peaks and troughs is in very a good state of polish and in very fine condition. The ray-skin covered grip is cord wrapped and has a silk sash and knot attached to the top ring and a leather retaining collar around the throat of the grip to attach to the sayer with press studs. The Katana is accompanied by a signed and stamped certificate stating 'Authority for possession of Japanese trophy to Sgt Baggeley RAF from HQ Indian Division in March 1946'. Leather cover split at base but laquered sayer still all intact. Overall length 102cms
