Victorian Royal Naval Officers sword by Whiteman of Portsea, in regulation leather scabbard retaining gilt mounts and hanging rings. The broad, single edged slightly curved blade has foliate decoration to both sides with fouled anchor and coat of arms motifs. The gilded, folding guard has a raised panel with a Victorian crown over a fouled anchor. The sharkskin grip is wire bound and the gilded backstrap terminates in a lions head pommel. All in good condition for age, with only slight staining and one or two small areas of pitting. Overall length 95cms
