Very rare 1796 pattern Georgian Heavy Dragoons Troopers Sword. Typical pierced strainer type guard with flat knucklebow stamped QDG C/19 and leather covered grip. Langlets absent (this was the usual result of troopers’ working alterations). The wide single edged blade with makers name on spine of S CRAVEN and with stamped crown and No.3 to flat of blade. Sword housed in its original steel scabbard, retaining both hanging rings. Good condition for age and rarity with one slight nick to back of blade edge and light age patina throughout both sword and scabbard. Overall length 104cms
